3/27/2011 The StorieBook Cafe was a great choice for us in Glen Rose. The cafe is a restaurant and bookstore and has lots of character to it. We were looking for sandwiches and greatly preferred this over Subway since we're sick of the chains.
Desserts are good, as is anything with bacon (club / BLT). The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the area. I definitely recommend stopping here at least once. We'll be back.

In Glen Rose, TX, you're hard pressed to find food that isn't sauteed in bacon grease, deep-fried and smothered with BBQ sauce. StorieBook Cafe was a little haven of healthy, homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps. Even the BBQ-lover in our group (grumpy that we were eating sandwiches for lunch) had to admit his grilled cheese and tomato soup were awesome. I had the Turkey Avocado wrap, an incredible "stuffed" potato soup (which does actually have bacon on it, but big chunks of actual bacon, none of that bac-o-bits garbage), and a real cappuccino (a delicacy in a small Texan town). Everything was delicious.
The atmosphere wraps you up like a warm blanket, and the staff were as friendly as can be - even staying open late to accommodate us. I wanted to hang out there all day.
The only critique I can come up with his that they don't take American Express (but Visa & MC are ok), and the simple side salad was a little blah according to one of my co-workers. We didn't try any special salads though. I'm sure they're terrific.
If you're in the area and need a break from really heavy food, do yourself a favor and stop here. You won't be sorry.

We had great food along with wonderful service! Lunch place with sandwiches, soups, salads and homemade desserts. It's a cafe and bookstore with about 8-9 tables. Nice atmosphere too. We bought a pint of homemade pickles they serve, which were so good!

The place is named for Storie who is a real gem and you can tell she loves this place with all her heart and soul. It's a cafe and bookstore all wrapped together in a wonderful package. I had a Reuben which was great and the soup of the day was chicken and dumpling which was also wonderful. They provide nice cafe touches and have a very extensive menu. We also had fabulous desserts in the form of peanut butter cheesecake and my wife had the Andes Mint pie also a huge winner. They'll host your birthday party, they have live music on occasion so check their website calendar for details. They have both new and used books which is really nice. You gotta stop in, have a bite to eat, and do some shopping as well!

This is the cutest cafe. No where have I walked into a bookstore and have it greet me with so much warmth and character. Not only was it inviting to just hang out on the couches to mingle with people about books but the soup was excellent. This is a wonderful shop with a ton of charm and an added bonus of the owners name being Storie for Storiebook Cafe. This is a must see and is going to be a great place to bring my out of town visitors for some delicious food and friendly atmosphere.

Storiebook Cafe is an edible fairy tale!

I first experienced the Storiebook cafe on Nov 21, 2009 during Girls Night Out in Glen Rose. We loved it so much we came back during the day the following Wednesday to eat and buy some books. We met the owner Storie Sharp (I know adorable huh?) We met Storie because she was visiting each table and talking to every customer. She told us the story behind the old building it was in. She did a wonderful job turning an small old chevy dealership/auto repair shop into an edible fairy tale. There is even a custom built book shelf complete with the sliding ladder. I fell in love with this place the minute I walked in. The food is delicious! Storiebook cafe also has all the new released books and some old favorites. It also has a used book section. I recommend the soups and wraps only because that is all I have had so far. Her peach iced tea is so good. If your in the area of Glen Rose, you won't regret going to Storiebook Cafe on the historical square.

Hi,
We ( our puny red hat group...it's hard to get most of the ladies out of town) had a great time in your little town...but I think you have a lot more going on there than Cleburne.
And we loved your cafe/bookstore and it's obvious you have put a lot of love and care and money into it.
We hope to see you again soon and will start working on the 3rd sat.outing with spouses, or maybe without! We enjoyed visiting with you also, very much.
Best, Joy McClellan

"Hi Storie,
I love the whole concept of your  "Storiebook Cafe".  I have been kept informed of many of the activities at "Storiebook Cafe". You bring many elements together at your store ( family, friends, music, food and drink ), while having the opportunity to learn, dream, and fantasize, through all of your wonderful books.  You have turned reading from a sedentary activity to a lively and friendly one.
I really enjoy your newsletter and look forward to reading them in the future.
Keep me posted,"
