Many of you may have already heard about our special guests last Sunday, May 4, but just in case you missed it... Storiebook Cafe was transformed into a Tea Room fit for Royalty in honor of a very special five year old young ladies birthday. Shelley, Patty, Darkus and I created edible Dragonflies, fairy wands, lady bugs, and more, and turned the shop PINK as soon as lunch was over! We also called in reinforcements, and had Darci at Barnard St. Bakery work her magic on some very special butterfly, cupcake and flower cookies, as well as a magnificent Tea Pot cake that was literally, the "icing on the cake!"
Tracks in Time received some new metal arches on the Saturday before, one of which was perfect for a Princesses entrance! It's amazing what some twinkle lights and pink and white tulle can do for a room. My antique vanity became a magic mirror for make-over, and a plush pink throne made an excellent photo op. The table was set with white linens and teapots of all shapes and sizes. The 15 little Cinderellas, Arials, Belles, Auroras and more were treated to special Pink Princess Tea, with their choice of one lump or two cubes of sugar! After each little lady had their face made up, their hair done into darling do's and bling to top it all off, they anxiously awaited for the special guest visitor to make her way through the door and down the pink carpet, to follow the rose petals to the table to join them for tea! Then it was time to strike a pose, as each had their photo taken with Cinderella. While waiting their turns the girls made Princess Photo Frames to accent their memory! We all agreed that the girls were all very polite and adorable, and it was a fun afternoon.  Check out the Storiebook Characters page for photos of the day. Click on parties, then on Princess Tea Party!
If you, or someone you know, would like to find out more information on having your own tea party at Storiebook Cafe, call Storie at 254-897-BOOK. In addition to Princess themes (it's just naturally the easiest since we know all about being the Princess), we currently offer a Fairy Tea or a Teddy Bear Picnic. All ages are welcome (we're discussing possibly having a mother/daughter tea, and maybe even just a "big girl" tea! We can also do young men parties... including a Cowboy, Sports or Space themes.

This weekend we were gazing at the stars with Paul Derrick, the "Stargazer". Paul is the author of the STARGAZER column which appears every other week in the Glen Rose Newspaper, as well as numerous other publications around the State. Paul teaches LEARNING THE NIGHT SKY ,  a 4-session (2 classroom and 2 "under the stars" sessions), non-credit short-course designed to help participants learn the basics of stargazing and begin to learn their way around the night sky. He also conducts public and private amateur astronomy slide PROGRAMS AND STAR PARTIES (indoor and outdoor, day and night) for children and adults in schools, camps, parks and other
settings.
Paul brought his new book, A Beginner's Guide to the Night Sky, (which are still available for purchase at Storiebook Cafe) along with some star charts and solar glasses for night viewing! He gave a brief presentation on the planets, and answered questions. Then, at 7 p.m. Paul, Mary Jane Kent (Paul's daughter) and Lee Van Wagner (could be Paul's BROTHER, to look at them! loll) entertained guests in the courtyard with their storytelling songs. The blend of the Derrick family voices (mom joined the crew on stage with her Banjo!) was amazing - they are great. And Van Wagner's deep growling sound had everyone laughing with many of his original tunes, and also made it a family affair, when joined by his wife and her tale of her... Kitty!! (I have to learn that song!!!) Special thanks and hope to see you again soon, to all of the fans that traveled to Storiebook Cafe from Waco and Dallas! It's always great to make new friends!
If you missed it, no fear, we definitely will have them back again!!
